HISTORY OF HARRIS'
In 1984, Ann Lee Harris, opened Harris’ Restaurant in partnership with Executive Chef Goetz Boje and General Manager Joey Buhagiar. Harris’ would soon become The San Francisco Steakhouse. Her vision was to create an atmosphere of traditional elegance and charm for San Franciscans and visitors alike to experience a time gone by. Renovating what was once Grison’s Steakhouse at 2100 Van Ness at the corner of Pacific Avenue, she created a lush atmosphere with dark wood, high ceilings with brass chandeliers and large leather booths.
Under the mentorship of Goetz Boje, Chef Michael Buhagiar worked his way up from a morning cook to Sous Chef and Head Chef in 1991. In 2003 after Mrs. Harris passed away Chef Michael Buhagiar became part owner and in 2018 he became the sole owner of Harris’ Restaurant. Today you can find Chef Michael Buhagiar, his two sons and daughter in-law at the helm of this historical establishment. This family team are responsible for keeping the original vision of Mrs. Harris and Goetz Boje alive; providing the Bay Area with the best dry-aged steaks in an atmosphere of traditional elegance and charm. Exceptional steak and gracious service will forever be in style.
